A Career in Education
Phil started her career in education in 1992 as a Nursery Assistant and has spent 30 years working with children of all ages across a range of settings.
After completing a Bachelor of Education, Phil worked as a classroom teacher, a Literacy co-ordinator, and a Phonics Advisor. She has a wealth of experience in teaching children with Special Educational Needs.

Consultant & Specialist Teacher
For the past 13 years she has worked in schools across the Midlands as an Independent Educational Consultant and Specialist Teacher. Phil works with neurodivergent children and young people.

2016
Raising Awareness
Having needed extra support herself over the years, in 2016 Phil discovered she is autistic and since then has been working to raise awareness and understanding of the needs of neurodivergent people.
Phil has been a supporter and volunteer for the National Autistic Society for over 10 years, and now runs 2 support groups and training events for autistic adults and parents of autistic children..

2022
Squarepeg SEN
Phil also works as an autistic lived experience advisor and autism trainer. Contracting as a speaker/trainer for organisations such as the National Autistic Society, Autism Learns and AT Autism.
In 2022 Phil founded her company Squarepeg SEN - Support and Education for Neurodiversity, which offers consultancy and training to suit a range of different settings. Phil is happy to create bespoke training tailored to the client's needs.

when she's not working Phil can usually be found in her potting shed, camping in a field or walking her dog.
